How to print large-print activities clearly at home

A well-designed printable can still be difficult to use if the printer shrinks it, cuts off an edge or produces faint text. These checks help preserve the intended layout.

Start with the correct paper size

Puzzle Papers files are prepared for A4 paper. In the print window, select A4 rather than US Letter. The wrong size can cause unexpected scaling or clipping at the edges.

Use “actual size” when possible

Choose 100% or Actual Size if the preview shows the whole page inside the printable area. If your printer clips the border, use Fit to Printable Area instead. Avoid options that place several pages on one sheet because they reduce the type and puzzle grid.

Check the preview before printing

• Every line and border should be visible.
• Nothing should extend beyond the page preview.
• The page should be upright and centred.
• Only the pages you need should be selected.

Choose a clear print setting

Standard quality is usually suitable. If black text appears grey or broken, check the ink or toner level and try a higher quality setting. Colour is optional for most activities; black-and-white printing should keep the words and puzzle content readable.

Print one test page first

Before printing a complete pack, print one activity page. View it in the same lighting and at the same distance the person will use it. This small check can prevent wasted paper and make the activity more comfortable.
